Bridge Tolls & Traffic: The Mackinac Bridge toll is $4 for cars (credit cards accepted). Labor Day weekend is extremely congested due to the Bridge Walk. Summer weekends can mean 30+ minute backups at the toll plaza. Consider using restrooms before the bridge - there are limited options mid-span.
Speed Traps: The local police actively patrol US-23 and the I-75 business loop. Keep in mind that the speed limit drops quickly from 70 to 55 to 25 mph in this area.
Food & Fuel Tips: Gas is significantly cheaper south of the bridge - fill up before crossing into the Upper Peninsula. Avoid the obvious tourist trap restaurants right off the exit. Audie's (local chain) has decent pasties and is reasonably priced. The Mackinac Grille is a solid local option if you have time.
Weather Quirks: Wind can close the bridge to high-profile vehicles; check conditions before crossing the bridge. Fog is common, especially morning and evening. Weather can be dramatically different on the north side of the bridge.
